Mold Testing In Connecticut
Residential and Commercial Mold Testing Services
Mold Testing (Pre-testing)
In some cases, mold testing is requested by a third party (such as a realtor).
Because mold growth may pose a threat to the structural integrity of a property, and because certain types of mold may exacerbate known health problems, this step may be taken as a precaution prior to mold remediation.
CT Mold Pros will conduct preliminary air and surface testing to determine what type of mold is present and the potential health and safety impact of that mold. We use nationally accredited lab testing methods to identify the mold and help determine the best plan for mold removal and remediation. Mold testing also provides important documentation for insurance claim purposes.
Clearance Testing (Post-remediation verification)
Once mold has been contained and treated in the home, and prior to the removal of any containment materials or tools, CT Mold Pros may conduct a mold clearance test as requested.
Clearance testing involves a visual and odor inspection of the entire remediation area, a breakdown of the moisture source identification findings, and a repeat of any initial mold tests to ensure the mold removal process was successful and that it is safe to re-enter your home or business.
Commercial Mold Testing in Connecticut
Business owners have a responsibility to protect the safety and well-being of not just their employees but also their patrons and visitors. For this reason, it is important to make sure your commercial building is free of potentially hazardous mold damage.
Because we understand that closing your business for any type of repair or remodel can be time-consuming and costly, our technicians make it a priority to be as efficient and effective as possible with our commercial mold testing services.
It is important to note that while CT Mold Pros provides mold testing and mold remediation services, we do not provide both services for the same property. It is standard practice that the two services be performed by different parties to ensure an ethical process.

FAQ’s
While methods may vary from one provider to the next, mold testing generally involves a preliminary visual inspection followed by collecting samples of the mold. Both air samples (collected using an air sampling pump) and surface samples (captured via lift tape or cotton swab) will help to determine the type of mold, the indoor vs. outdoor mold levels, the scope of the mold growth, and the best approach to removal and remediation.
Professional air mold tests are highly accurate and provide valuable information beyond what a surface sample test will reveal. Specifically, they allow mold removal technicians to determine whether or not—and to what extent—the mold is impacting indoor air quality. CT Mold Pros uses nationally accredited testing methods to ensure the most accurate results.
Home mold test kits (DIY mold test kits) are limited in scope and may not be as accurate as professional testing equipment. Because of the potential health and safety risks of mold growth, we recommend working with an experienced mold testing and remediation specialist.
Mold testing on its own may cost anywhere from a few hundred dollars to $1,000, depending on the size and accessibility of the home or business, the types of tests and equipment used, and the geographical location of the structure.
