Our 4-Step Mold Remediation Process

Our IICRC- and BPI-certified specialists use the following 4-step process to effectively remove and prevent mold growth in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.

Assessment

A specialist comes to your home or business for a free consultation, assesses the severity of the mold damage and provides a written cost estimate.

Containment

Contaminated areas are taped off and fitted with polyethylene sheeting, and negative air machines keep spores from reaching other areas.

Treatment

An EPA-registered moldicide renders the mold inactive, followed by a catalyst spray for staining and an antimicrobial fog for tight spaces.

Removal

All surfaces are vacuumed, and waste, including porous materials such as insulation and drywall, is removed and disposed of offsite.

Mold Remediation FAQs

How much does mold remediation cost?

Mold remediation costs will vary significantly depending on the extent of the mold growth and the tools and materials needed to effectively remove all mold and prevent new growth. Home and business owners can expect to pay between $2,500 and $10,000 for mold remediation.

Who pays for mold remediation?

Your insurance policy will likely cover the cost of mold remediation services if the mold growth is the result of a "covered peril" (in most cases a sudden or accidental event). For example, mold growth that occurs as a result of flooding from storm damage, a burst pipe, or a broken water heater should be covered. However, if mold growth has been present for an extended period of time and is the result of negligence on the part of the homeowner (such as a poorly sealed window that has been leaking for months), it may not be covered. We recommend reviewing your current policy or contacting your insurer to determine what your insurance company will or will not cover.

How long does mold remediation take?

Mold remediation services can often be completed in one to five days. However, more extensive mold growth may take more time for proper assessment, treatment, and removal.

When is mold remediation required?

According to the EPA, if the mold growth covers an area of more than 10 square feet, you should contact a professional service provider to handle the problem. Other indications you may need a specialist include the presence of extensive moisture, an unpleasant odor, or a change in appearance of the mold.

Can I stay in my home during mold remediation?

Depending on the severity of the situation, you may be able to remain in your home or office while your mold remediation service is being conducted. However, if the mold growth is too extensive, or if there are any health and safety concerns, your service provider may recommend temporarily relocating.
